This summer has been a busy one for all here at the Sole Collective. Not only have we begun a global push for brand recognition and representation, we have also been up to our ears in events and competitions! The following features are just a snapshot of our summer!

Antics & Chilly Water For the URT Womp on Coronado

URT URT! Is not only the bark of the Sea Lion, it’s also the moniker of local Coronado Island legends and chill clothing brand. On August 16 Coronado was the venue for the 5th Annual Urt Womp, a Body Surfing Competition. The waves didn’t cooperate, but the vibe was awesome and all involved had a blast. Sole Handplanes fielded a flock of 4 fearless chargers (easy to say when the largest set measured nipple high) that braved the chilly water. When all was said and done Solerider Jin Salamack went home with first place wood in the handplane division. Congrats Jin!!

South Swell, Sunshine, & a Great Two Days in Oceanside

The World Bodysurfing Championships in Oceanside saw some decent size waves in less than perfect conditions, but that didn't prevent a great showing by competetors and spectators alike. With warm water on hand and even warmer sunny skies, hanging out at the beach for the two-day competition was also a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Sole fielded a team of three for this event. No gold was won but Solerider Jesse Cabral swam his arse off all the way into the semi finals. –Good job Jesse!

Sole & Mabo Partners in Japan

Sole Handplanes and Mabo Handplanes are happy to announce a partnership between the two companies. Mabo handplanes is now the exclusive distributor in Japan for Sole Handplanes. Through Mabo, Sole will be introducing a line of high quality handplanes to the Japanese market. Shaper Masakazu Mabo Miura, owner of Mabo handplanes is defining the cutting edge of handboarding in Japan and brings veteran international experience to the partnership.
